Lenswood Pinot Noir
Wine
Geoff Weaver Lenswood Pinot Noir blends MV6 clone Pinot Noir with small portions of Clone 114 and 115 fruit. It is grown at 500 metres elevation in Lenswood, Adelaide Hills.
Most of the grapes are gently crushed into fermenter tubs, with a portion added as whole berries without stalks. The must is seeded with a low level of yeast culture for fermentation. It is plunged four times daily.
After around two weeks, the wine is pressed to 50% new French oak barrels. Here it undergoes malolactic fermentation and 12 months of maturation. Racking helps to clarify the wine.
Bright crimson purple, Geoff Weaver Lenswood Pinot Noir has supple ripe fruit flavours and lingering savoury tannins on the finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
